Their first album appeared in 1987, then with the release of Wim Wenders’s 1994 film Lisbon Story they joined the ranks of Portuguese music’s greatest stars. Now, with guitarist Pedro Ayres Magalhães and keyboardist Carlos Maria Trindade surrounded by new musicians, the new album and programme of Madredeus distils the essence of 25 years.
