Brass Corporation

A new addition to the 2011/12 programme: the subscription in 100% pure brass (with a little touch of percussion and electric guitars). For the truly discerning customer there can be only one material: Brass is hard-wearing, incredibly versatile and highly breathable. All the evenings will be distinguished by a high proportion of fun, excellent comfort for the ears and the finest groove qualities. This season’s new bands come straight from Munich, Brussels and Chicago. Classic elegance or light casual – the four concerts in the «Brass Corporation» series are ideally suited to all situations. Thanks to an innovative agreement our outstanding brass concerts can be heard in equal measure in the Philharmonie and in the Mierscher Kulturhaus – both guarantee first-class quality. First of all: the Munich Brass Connection – «Classic, Bavarian, Irresistible». Five young gentlemen, winners of numerous awards, in a quintet ensure «topnotch fun brass» (Westfalenpost). Second: Alimentation Générale – a captivating blend of funky grooves, spirit such as is usually only found in Balkan bands and the finest Belgian humour. Third: Ray Anderson’s Pocket Brass Band – the pocket-sized version of the legendary New Orleans street bands, with a band leader who has been elected best trombonist in the DownBeat Critics Poll five years running. Fourth: Blechschaden – the nonchalant brass sideline of the Munich Philharmonic, awarded a special brass version of the medal of honour by the mayor of Munich in 2009 for their 25th anniversary.
