EME Foundation

EME Foundation– «Listen to Understand Each Other Better»

Founded in January 2009, the EME Foundation, working in close co-operation with the Philharmonie Luxembourg, seeks to offer the possibility of access to music to people who are generally excluded from cultural life - such as children and adults with complex disabilities or reduced mobility, individuals living in difficult situations, socially disadvantaged, marginalised or isolated people. Thus, the EME Foundation brings music to places like hospitals, nursing homes or prisons, combining the social and cultural dimensions.

The range of expertise present in the board of the EME Foundation as well as the Philharmonie's good regional and international network provide the drive for the development of made-to-measure musical offerings for disadvantaged people in a wide variety of situations. Highly motivated musicians and volunteers serve the idea of bringing music to people who would normally be excluded from the cheering direct encounters with live music making.

Your support is indispensable for assuring the establishment and continuity of a commitment to disadvantaged persons. The foundation is exclusively financed by gifts, legacies, and donations. With your contribution to the EME Foundation you donate courage and joy by creating bonds between all the members of society.

Who is the Foundation for?

Patients in hospitals. Residents in care homes. People unable to visit a concert hall.

Many people are unable to attend concerts in cultural venues. The EME Foundation intends to fit in with their needs by going to hospitals, hospices, prisons or other special venues.

People with complex disabilities – mental or physical.

People with special needs, mental handicaps or other complex disadvantages, for example, can find joy in music only through concerts that are specifically designed for their abilities and needs. Made-to-measure concert productions hence open up worlds of music to these people.

People in precarious situations or marginalised.

Invisible social barriers prevent many people from attending cultural venues. Special activities undertaken by the foundation will seek to remove these barriers and make it possible for the disadvantaged to participate more entirely in cultural life.
