Foundation EME – «Listen, to Understand Better»
Since its opening in 2005 the Philharmonie Luxembourg, with its varied programme, has managed to set up as a meeting place appealing to all kinds of audiences. On this basis the EME Foundation « Ecouter pour Mieux s'Entendre » («Listening to understand each other better»), founded in January 2009, works in close collaboration with the Philharmonie in complementary activity in the field of social work. Highly motivated musicians and volunteers serve the idea of bringing music to people who would normally be excluded from the cheering direct encounters with live music making. The direct encounter with music is a fundamental need. Every deed intended to make these accessible to everyone boosts social justice.
The countless activities that the assistance of the Foundation EME permits combine a social and a cultural dimension. They aim to serve a specific group of people who for various reasons stand outside the traditional sphere of cultural activities – such as children and adults with complex disabilities or reduced mobility; individuals living in difficult situations; the socially disadvantaged; marginalized or isolated people.
The range of expertise present in the board of the EME Foundation as well as the Philharmonie's good regional and international network provide the drive for the development of made-to-measure musical offerings for disadvantaged people in a wide variety of situations. Help us to share music! With your contribution to the EME Foundation you donate courage and joy by creating bonds between all the members of society.
