On March 12, the Philharmonie had to close its doors – for an uncertain length of time. Numerous concerts and events had to be cancelled; inside the hall, things became very quiet. But now the end of the wait is in sight. The entire Philharmonie team is delighted to tell its audience: we are starting up again – going back to live.

On June 18, after three silent months, the time has finally come: the Grand Auditorium at the Philharmonie offers music as a live experience again. The jazz trio Reis Demuth Wiltgen from Luxembourg is delighted to play for a live audience again – even if restrictions apply. Two further concerts are being prepared. One special occasion is the Philharmonie’s 15thbirthday, which the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg wants to celebrate on June 25 by playing an enchanting programme under the baton of its chief conductor Gustavo Gimeno. On July 2, the duo Elena Baeva and Vadim Kholodenko will perform live at the Philharmonie.

Next to the health of the artists, of course we are also concerned for the wellbeing of our concertgoers. In order to comply with all official regulations, a comprehensive sanitary plan has been developed. It calls for the number of visitors to the Grand Auditorium to be significantly reduced. Unlike usual procedure, tickets can only be purchased in advance by email or phone (26 32 26 32); purchasing tickets at the evening box office will not be possible. Sales begin on  12.06.2020, at 10:00. Unfortunately it will not be possible for purchasers to select their own seats, as tickets will be distributed after reservations have been received, in order to enable as many music lovers as possible to attend the concert. Adjacent seats (a maximum of 4) are reserved for couples, families and persons from the same household. The tickets will be sent to you by mail or email.

We kindly ask the audience to allow more time than usual for admittance to the concert hall, and to wear a mask when entering the Philharmonie. The doors of the Philharmonie will open at 18:15 so that you can reach your seats directly. As soon as you have taken your seats, the mask may be removed. The concert will last approximately sixty minutes without an intermission. Both the bar and the cloakroom will remain closed.

Despite the fact that during the past weeks, the OPL’s musicians and Luxembourg-based artists have offered a diverse musical programme via the social networks, we are absolutely delighted to welcome artists and concertgoers back to the Philharmonie.
