Carl Nielsen: Concerto pour violon op. 33
Jean Sibelius: Symphonie N° 6
Jean Sibelius: Symphonie N° 7

The Russian conductor Dima Slobodeniouk begins a new chapter in his CV with this OPL debut. Known, according to concertclassic, for his painstaking attention to details and phrasing that evokes the human breath, the conductor will perform Carl Nielsen’s rarely-heard Violin Concerto with Baiba Skride as the soloist. The Latvian violinist has often been his performer of choice. The Northern-European inflection of the programme on April 29 is further augmented by the choice of Jean Sibelius’ Sixth and Seventh Symphonies. Before the concert, Markus Brönnimann, OPL’s principal flutist, will participate in an Artist Talk in English at the Salle de Musique de Chambre at 7:15 pm.
