Even if his career began side by side with luminaries such as Otis Redding or Wes Montgomery, Billy Hart is far from being a voice of the past in jazz. For more than 60 years he has been a sought-after sideman, a member of renowned formations – for example Herbie Hancock’s – but also a passionate teacher. Now the American percussionist leads a transgenerational quartet with saxophonist Mark Turner, pianist Ethan Iverson and bassist Ben Street. On Sept. 29 he makes his Philharmonie debut. At 7:10 pm, the Salle de Musique de Chambre will host an artist talk in English, offering a chance to encounter this exceptional artist in person.
