A historical voyage through India is the subject of the season’s first Cine-Concert on September 28. Shiraz not only recounts a moving love story, but the film is also a declaration of love for the country and its citizens. And who could offer a more befitting soundtrack for this silent film than Anoushka Shankar? Together with her ensemble, the composer and sitar player creates far more than an evocative and stylistically appropriate atmosphere for a film which chose India itself as its true protagonist, years before the Bollywood boom.
