Superficiality and inconstancy, or fidelity – at first glance, it seems that it is the women whom Wolfgang A. Mozart exposes in his four-way comedy Così fan tutte. It’s worth looking twice, though! And that is what Giovanni Antonini, the Basel Chamber Orchestra and an outstanding ensemble of soloists enable us to do on March 22 at the Grand Auditorium. The composer offers an emotional roller-coaster, while Lorenzo da Ponte’s libretto ingenuously toys with the principles of the comedy of errors – an ideal basis for an interpretation by a master of elegant nuance.
