Praised as a Mahler performer of «trademark thoughtfulness and grace» (The New York Times), baritone Christian Gerhaher returns to the Philharmonie’s Grand Auditorium on 01.12. to perform music by that composer, side by side with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and its music director Daniel Harding. During the first half, Gerhaher sings excerpts from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, alternating with Blumine, rarely heard in concert today and originally a movement from Mahler’s First Symphony. The young soprano Johanna Wallroth then makes her Philharmonie debut in the solo part of Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, whose final movement is also based on the Wunderhorn poems.
For this concert, all visitors aged twelve years old and two months and up must show proof of eligibility to attend via CovidCheck.
