This season, the audience of the Face-à-Face concerts gets to meet Robert Schumann in all his facets – in keeping with the Romantic era’s image of the artist. To Schumann, both a composer and prolific writer on music, the relationship between lyrics and music was an important aspect of his songs – a subject which Graham Johnson, soprano Harriet Burns and tenor Kieran Carrel explore amidst a salon atmosphere on October 10.
