Robert Schumann: Sonate für Violine und Klavier N° 2
This season, the audience of the «Face-à-Face» concerts gets to meet Robert Schumann and discover the many facets of his oeuvre – in keeping with the romantic era’s image of the artist. The composer’s violin output forms a cosmos of its own, as fascinating as its reception has been ambivalent. Taking the Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 as their point of departure, performer Stephen Waarts and Martin Klett and lecturer Stephen Johnson open intriguing avenues into this sound world – presented in English on Jan. 16.
