Dmitri Chostakovitch:
Symphonie N° 7 «Léningrad»
Fazıl Say is a mediator between musical cultures, without calling particular attention to this fact. Originally from Turkey, as a composer he regularly incorporates oriental principles into his music, which follows western traditions and which he interprets in a congenial manner. A case in point is Water, which he will play on March 6 together with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg under the baton of Dmitry Liss. The second part of this «Aventure+» evening also features Say’s piano music, with the composer appearing as soloist. Furthermore, the evening offers an opportunity to encounter a milestone of Russian symphonic repertoire of the previous century: Dmitri Shostakovich’s «Leningrad» Symphony.
