Anthony Braxton: Ghost Trance Music: Composition 255

«Anthony Braxton has been heralded as a luminary of free jazz (…) as well as a radical composer of operas and orchestral works» (The Guardian). A creator who absolutely defies categorization, an influential thinker of contemporary music and an esteemed pedagogue, he has been making waves since 1969, when he released the first recording in history for saxophone solo. After creating more than 350 works, he makes his Philharmonie debut at the age of 76 as part of the rainy days festival on 13.11.: as a saxophone player at 8 pm and as a composer at 6 pm.

Anthony Braxton’s Ghost Trance Music, inspired by Native American ghost dance rituals, condenses his entire fascinating musical world in one cycle of works: hovering between improvisation and notation, open to diverse musical practices beyond the boundaries of convention, Braxton’s music is a ritual of intuitive experiences for listeners and performers alike.

For this concert, all visitors aged twelve years old and two months and up must show proof of eligibility to attend via CovidCheck. For further information, click here
