Ever since Wim Wenders’ sensitive cinematic tribute to Buena Vista Social Club in 1999, the qualities of the worldly-wise Cuban ur-musicians have been recognized and celebrated all over the world. Not only are some of those musicians identical with Juan de Marcos’ Afro-Cuban All Stars, but the latter also stands firmly in the tradition of the legendary grooves of the 1950s. Cuban big-band sound brings Caribbean sunshine to autumnal Luxembourg on November 8.
