Kinnekswiss, Luxembourg
add to calendar
The Kinnekswiss is not only a popular meeting-place and the green lung at the heart of the city of Luxembourg, but is also transformed at the beginning of each summer into an atmospheric concert location, offering the ideal ambiance for various events, chief among them «Kinnekswiss loves». Accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the past years have seen Angélique Kidjo, China Moses and Elīna Garanča grace the custom-built, gigantic open-air stage. Comfortably seated on a blanket on the meadow – ideally with a well-filled picnic basket – this is the ideal setting for a pleasant summer evening with friends or family.
For the 2018/19 edition of the Kinnekswiss concert, listeners may look forward to the powerful, warm voice of Sir Bryn Terfel. The lusty bass-baritone who is occasionally called the «Prince of Wales of the opera stage» due to his Welsh origins, presents highlights of the opera repertoire together with soprano Lauren Fagan. Singing compositions by Gounod, Wagner and Italian composers such as Donizetti and Verdi, the artist demonstrates the technical mastery which has brought him international fame. The OPL and its chief conductor Gustavo Gimeno are the other pillars of this concert underneath the stars.
