As one of two titular organists at the church St-Étienne-du-Mont in Paris, Thierry Escaich is the successor of Maurice Duruflé and, in addition to playing repertoire, prominently continues the masterly tradition of improvisation among French organists. Together with trumpeter Romain Leleu, Escaich will play one of his own compositions as well as arrangements for trumpet and organ. Three of these arrangements of opera arias or scenes have been arranged especially with the Schuke Organ in the Grand Auditorium of the Philharmonie in mind, which was built explicitly as a «concert hall organ». This applies as well to the end of the programme in which stylistic boundaries are boldly extended to include music hall and jazz.
