Johann Sebastian Bach: Messe h-moll (si mineur) BWV 232
This Catholic mass setting by a Protestant musician and its nearly 400-year success story are as brilliant as they are impressive: since its creation, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B-minor has enthralled musicians and musicologists with its contradictions and enchanted audiences with its powerful expressivity. The Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Chorus and Soloists under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock, all acclaimed specialists in this repertoire, continue the work’s history of memorable performances at the Philharmonie on Feb. 2. Before the concert, Thomas Hengelbrock participates in an Artist Talk in German at 7:30 pm, discussing the momentous composition and its interpretation.
This concert takes place under the CovidCheck 2G+ regulations (vaccinated or recovered) for visitors aged 19 and up, and under 3G+ regulations (vaccinated, recovered or tested negative) for visitors aged between 12 years and 2 months and 18 years. You must wear a facemask for your entire stay at the Philharmonie, including for the duration of the concert, if you are over the age of 6. For further information, click here
