The New York ensemble Yarn/Wire reveals its aesthetic versatility with three works lately written specifically for the young ensemble. Rick Burkhardt’s new composition Earth Opens recasts the musicians as actors; Enno Poppe’s recently premiered Feld demands extraordinary technical and musical proficiency; and in Ann Cleare’s I should live in wires for leaving you behind the musicians elicit poetic sounds from flower pots, crystal bowls, salad spinners, marbles, and melodicas.
