«When I first read the book, I was breathless»
berichtet Leonard Bernstein nach der Lektüre von Wystan Hugh Audens Langgedicht «The Age of Anxiety» (Das Zeitalter der Angst). Fieberhaft setzte er das kurz nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg entstandene Sujet in Musik. Daraus wurde seine gleichnamige Zweite Symphonie für Soloklavier und Orchester. Eine persönliche Suche nach Orientierung und Glauben angesichts zahlreicher Krisenerfahrungen.Tickets
