The artists

History hasn’t always been kind to female composers.

Fanny Hensel and Clara Schumann had to juggle work and home life amidst the social constraints of the 19th century. Galina Ustwolskaja was pained at being constantly referred to as «the pupil of Dmitri Shostakovich», rather than a composer in her own right. The young generation of classical musicians seem however determined to repair the injustices and imbalances of the past. Come and hear ECHO Rising Star Giorgi Gigashvili as he pays these afore-mentioned female pioneers the tribute they deserve, and performs a new work from electronic artist, Natalie Beridze.
