Martina Menichetti concept, workshop leader
Take a break from your workday and refuel your energy levels with an interactive music workshop at the Philharmonie. These open music-making sessions are designed for adults without previous musical knowledge who are curious about what music-making feels like, as well as adults who wish to bring their instrument and make music in groups in a creative and cheerful atmosphere. Musician, educator and speaker Martina Menichetti will lead the workshop, and encourage and guide participants in discovering music instruments, singing and playing around with rhythm and movement. in an unforgettable night embracing the heart and soul of modern Buenos Aires. Sonico is famous for revitalising tango's essence with their fusion of popular roots, jazz, and classical music. «La Noche Del Encuentro» showcases works by the influential Astor Piazzolla and the visionary Eduardo Rovira – two tango composers fundamental to the renewal of this enchanting rhythm.

In this virtuosic recital, she shows us an aspect of composer Sergei Rachamninov’s personality that is often overlooked: his boundless admiration for Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries! With his arrangements and variations, the «Last Romantic» plays with musical fabrics woven by the great baroque masters and demonstrates that these immortal geniuses aren’t done taking our breath away. Ludwig van Beethoven on the other hand leaves us absolutely breathless by ending his «Farewell» («Adieux») on a vivacissimamente: the liveliest of all tempi!

Blue, red, green, yellow... a wonderful world of colours where everything is round and rolling, flying, gliding and bobbing about! In this world full of music, sometimes dark, sometimes light, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, we encounter someone for whom colour and roundness were hitherto unknown. He quickly falls under the spell and sets out with us to discover this shimmering, spherical world.

Rachmaninoff wrote his gloriously lyrical Piano Concerto N° 2 while recovering from a nervous breakdown, while Berlioz mined his own romantic despair to create the unforgettable Symphonie fantastique, in which a young artist is driven mad by love. Both works have proved enduringly popular since their premieres. In this performance Gustavo Gimeno conducts the Luxembourg Philharmonic and Italian pianist Beatrice Rana – a shooting star if there ever was one!
