United Instruments of Lucilin has invited the British soprano Juliet Fraser

to dream up a project for the ensemble. She will create a full-evening performance for and with the ensemble – combining her extensive experience as a performer of ancient and contemporary music with her specific interest in blurring and disrupting the hard lines between traditions. The result is hard to predict, but all are invited to share in the ritual.

Meet the Luxembourg-bred ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin in this dedicated concert series.

Is contemporary music something to be scared of?

Has everything already been composed? After all these centuries, are there still any musical territories left to be explored? With poise, passion and an undeniable touch of humour, the Luxemburgish composer Catherine Kontz answers even our most irreverent questions and tells us all about breaking new ground in today’s music world. To put theory into practice, she then walks us through the main highlights of her first rainy days festival as its curator, which took place at the Philharmonie from 16 to 19.11.2023. Multimedia operas, immersive installations, Scottish pipes, archives from the Luxembourg Philharmonic and DIY memory games: no doubt these four days gave us something to remember!
