Based on an episode from the major Sanskrit epic Mahābhārata,

A Throw of Dice has all of that remarkable inspiration that characterises the first great epics in the history of cinema. The fruit of an unusual Indo-German co-production, the film was shot in Rajasthan with a host of extras and animals, including no fewer than fifty elephants from royal houses. This great romantic spectacle will feature the score composed by sitar player Nishat Khan, who will be present for the occasion alongside members of the Luxembourg Philharmonic.
