A peek into Beethoven’s legendary concert in December 1808

Frustrated by the lack of financial stability and financial support, Ludwig van Beethoven considered leaving Vienna in 1808. He staged a massive, marathon-length «farewell» concert, which premiered iconic works like his Symphony N° 5. Despite freezing temperatures, lack of rehearsals, and other shortcomings, it remains one of the most remarkable concerts of its era. Sir John Eliot Gardiner and his Constellation Choir and Orchestra present two of the pieces from this legendary concert, as well as the Triple Concerto. Fun fact, it was also premiered in 1808, in Februrary. A great year for Beethoven!
