Pure and simple.
The key of C major is often associated with simplicity, innocence, resolution. This is generally true for Ludwig van Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, as the composer sought a way to represent God’s majesty and purity. Beethoven kept things relatively simple with the light-hearted Symphony N° 1. Sometimes labelled as a bridge between the Classical and Romantic eras, it foreshadows some of the complexity and adventure that would appear in his later symphonies.
