«What’s in a name?»
A boundless well of inspiration for artists and composers, if you consider Romeo and Juliet’s! On the eve of WWII, the intertwined names of history’s most famous star-crossed lovers prompted Sergei Prokofiev to write music for a ballet, which he later arranged into a series of virtuosic orchestral suites. In this concert, the Luxembourg Philharmonic invites you to discover highlights from the first of these arrangements, along with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto N° 4 – a daring work that completely flipped expectations in the early 1800s.
