Entry-level training for teachers
Community Music is an inclusive and participatory approach to music-making that values above all
creativity, collaboration and active engagement. It focuses on creating meaningful musical experiences for everyone, regardless of their musical background or ability, and encourages participants to contribute their own ideas and perspectives to the creative process.
This three-hour workshop introduces teachers to the core principles and practices of
community music and explores how they can be applied in educational settings. Participants will
discover practical warm-ups for body, voice and rhythm, techniques for building trust and fostering
group cohesion, and strategies for facilitating collaborative music-making in diverse classrooms. The workshop will also provide tools for working with simple musical structures, improvisation and co-creation, enabling teachers to create engaging and accessible musical experiences that encourage participation, creativity and a sense of belonging among their students.
