Narrative concert
Once upon a time… there were Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, the Empress of the Pagodas, the Beauty and the Beast as well as a Secret Garden. In Ma mère l’Oye, fairy-tale figures and colourful sounds meet. In the cycle Maurice Ravel composed for two children of friends of his, he lovingly invoked the «poetry of childhood». Hardly anyone experiences this music so directly as young listeners.
