About «résonances»

«Remember you are making music not to amuse yourself…

… but to delight the audience.» In the first of his Ten Golden Rules for a Young Conductor, Richard Strauss reminds us that every musical performance is a gift made to an audience. The Cleveland Orchestra will surely follow this precept as they perform a programme dedicated entirely to the Austrian composer! Written at the end of his life, the Four Last Songs feel like a poetic and contemplative farewell, whilst the Symphonia Domestica is an ode to the quiet home life which Strauss (ever the family man!) cherished so dearly.
