The artists
- The Tallis Scholars vocal ensemble
The piece the Vatican kept secret for over a century.
For more than a hundred years, Allegri’s Miserere could only be heard inside the Sistine Chapel – the Vatican refused to let anyone copy the score. But legend has it that a 14-year-old Mozart heard it once, went home, and wrote the whole thing down from memory. The Tallis Scholars perform it here alongside music by Palestrina, des Prés, Festa and Morales – the very composers whose voices once filled those chapel walls as choristers. Now their notes fill the Philharmonie’s Foyer, where the acoustics give every moment room to breathe.Tickets
