Cristóbal de Morales was the biggest name in 16th-century Spanish music, and his funeral works were sung across Europe for generations. But you don’t need to know any of that to feel what happens when 21 singers fill the Philharmonie’s Foyer with nothing but their voices. Vox Luminis perform his Officium defunctorum and Missa pro defunctis – music written to honour the dead that somehow ends up making you feel intensely alive.
