Austria’s capital city was still very much in a Romantic mood for romanticism! Lush orchestral music, emotion-packed storytelling, glamour, nostalgia… In this concert, the Wiener Philharmoniker have sampled two pieces that capture the spirit of the era. Richard Strauss’ iconic Rosenkavalier and a lesser-performed Sinfonietta by a young Erich Korngold, who went on to become one of Hollywood’s favourite composers.
