A native of Haikou, China, Yunxiaotian Pan studied with Julian Lloyd Webber and Ben Davies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire from 2018 to 2022. Since the autumn of 2022 he has been in London at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under Josephine Knight. He earned his master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in 2024, and his postgraduate diploma in June 2025. He has been principal cellist in all the major orchestras of the Royal Academy of Music. In 2023, he was selected for the London Symphony Orchestra Scheme. Yunxiaotian Pan has also received numerous accolades, including the Alfredo Piatti Prize and the Royal Academy of Music’s Duo Prize, as well as second prize in the D’Addario String Competition in London. He has performed in masterclasses given by Jian Wang, Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Mario Brunello, Arto Noras, Hannah Roberts, Sung-Won Yang, Raphael Wallfisch, Felix Schmidt, Maciej Kulakowski, and Jiaxin Lloyd Webber. He joined the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy in September 2025.
