Pan Yunxiaotian

A native of Haikou, China, Yunxiaotian Pan began his musical journey with the cello at the age of five. In 2018, he moved to the UK to study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the guidance of renowned cellists Julian Lloyd Webber and Ben Davies. In 2022, he relocated to London where he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) with Professor Josephine Knight, earning his master’s degree in 2024 and completing the Advanced Diploma in 2025. During this period, he also studied chamber music with violinist So-Ock Kim and co-founded the Toccata Quartet, with which he performed at prestigious venues such as the Wiener Saal Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Austrian Embassy in London. Yunxiaotian Pan has served as principal cellist in all the major orchestras of the Royal Academy of Music. In 2023, he was selected for the London Symphony Orchestra Scheme and the Birmingham Royal Ballet Sinfonia Scheme. He has received numerous awards, including the Alfredo Piatti Prize, the Royal Academy of Music’s Duo Prize, and second prize in the D’Addario String Competition in London. Yunxiaotian Pan has also performed in masterclasses led by distinguished artists such as Jian Wang, Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Mario Brunello, Arto Noras, Hannah Roberts, Sung-Won Yang, Raphael Wallfisch, Felix Schmidt, and Maciej Kulakowski. In September 2025, he joined the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy.
