Part of the rainy days 2025 on -
Today’s music is overly intellectual? The 2025 festival rainy days grabs this cliché by the throat, choosing «bodies» as its theme. Bodies and physicality have always interested the arts. Especially in music, the subject is ambiguous, the idea that the body cannot do without spirit, nor the spirit without the body, more than a bon mot. The multitude of approaches to the body and bodies is reflected in the festival’s programme, once again designed for diehard fans of contemporary music and those who are simply curious alike, offering something for almost all age groups.

A soundwalk inside the building of the Philharmonie

Do you remember the last time you got soaking wet on that walk in the rain? The sounds of your footsteps on the wet asphalt and the reflections of the city on the wet surfaces, the large drops falling from the leaves and the dense smells all around you. In this audio walk designed for the inside of the Philharmonie Luxembourg building, you will hear voices of people from places near and far recollecting a walk in the rain they remember. Be transported to the places and contexts as you listen and walk slowly through the building. Maybe you can even feel the rain on your skin and the wet surface under your feet? You can also pick up a postcard with a walking score that you are invited to do as you walk across the hanging bridge.

Contributors of voices and rain sounds: Alessandra Cianetti (London), Anniek den Toom (between a town called De Bilt and the city of Utrecht in The Netherlands), Chris Hogg (the Jurassic coast), Damla Durman (Bozcaada), Eduardo Cardoso Amato (Yokohama, Japan), Elida Silvey (Lombard St, London), Esther Lu (Nozawa, Fukushima, Japan), Fenia Kotsopoulou (Freiburg, Germany and Lincoln), Graeme Miller (Niesen Mountain, Bern, Switzerland), John Ryan Brubaker (Watermael Boitsfort, Brussels, Belgium), Liang-Jung Chen (Mount Dabajian, Hsinchu County, Taiwan), Lk (Hong Kong), Malitzin Cortes (Carretera a Sultepec, kilometer 10, Venta Morales, State of Mexico), Marlene Creates (back door and front door on Blast Hole Pond Road in Portugal Cove, Newfoundland, Canada), Miriam (mim) King (Kostelec nad Cernymi Lesy, Bohemia, Czech Republic), Nastia Svarevska (Venice), Pam Patterson (Balmy Beach, Toronto), Phil Smith (Plymouth), Rhiannon Armstrong (Wanstead Flats, London), Sarah Franzoi (my nonna’s home in Toronto, Ontario), Tamsin Grainger (Kent and Scotland), Tara Fatehi (Tehran, Iran)
