Like a ray of sunshine shining on a piece of glass,

Baroque music appears here as a spectrum of a thousand and one colours. This rainbow effect comes as no surprise, considering how much the musical world evolved in the 150-year period ranging from the end of the Renaissance to the Enlightenment! From Dietrich Buxtehude to Georg Friedrich Händel and Johann Sebastian Bach, each composer featured in this programme curated by the ensemble il Pomo d'Oro and Anna Prohaska will shed light on a different aspect of the Baroque era. Another common thread running through all the works on the programme is prayer. Beyond the Baroque spectrum, this programme also highlights the vast spectrum of what the human soul is capable of feeling, from consolation to passion.
