Pricklings is an interactive, durational performance,
staging the artist as trans saint, queer icon, fetish object, or witch’s poppet – a craft project, a trial, a game. Originally performed in queer club spaces, Pricklings investigates trans embodiment, bodily autonomy and the blurred lines between the body as costume and costume as bodies. In a moment of contact and exchange, as pin penetrates surrogate flesh, religious, historical, medical and magical iconography are remixed and repurposed to create new rituals of becoming. In this new version of the work, E.M. Parry collaborates with Kith – multi-disciplinary artists and musicians Fritha Jenkins and K.A. Harper – to weave further layers of connection, slippage and entanglement through sonic intervention, splitting and sharing bodily experience.
