Farinelli by Gérard Corbiau recounts the highly colourful life of the eponymous castrato, between artistic triumphs and personal turmoil. Upon its release in 1994, the film featured a studio reconstruction of the singer’s voice; here, however, it will benefit from the talent of mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux, a recognised specialist in the repertoire dedicated to these extraordinary performers.
