Music in Luxembourg City

with Paper Lantern Collective

A group of people parades on a city street, some playing drums, while a large sun-shaped decoration is carried above the crowd.

For the past 20 years, the Philharmonie has stood firm in its belief that music empowers individuals and communities. With its unique ability to foster connections and build bridges, community music can be a force for good in our fragmented societies.

Building upon this commitment, we have partnered with Paper Lantern Collective to design a special participatory project for the 2025/26 season.

Starting in January 2026, we will offer creative workshops open to all. Families with children, young people, adults, senior citizens: anyone and everyone is invited to come together to make music, sing, dance, create and – most importantly – connect.

After a few months of regular gatherings, the project’s finale will take the form of a festive neighbourhood party in June, including music, food and art – a beautiful moment to celebrate the arrival of summer together!

See what happened in other cities:

  • Adults laughing during a workshop
  • People playing music sitting next to the lyrics of a song written in large letters
  • Adults playing instruments during a workshop
  • A member of Paper Lantern Collective moderating a workshop with children
  • a choir singing outside beneath string lights
  • An adult sits on a mat, handing a musical instrument to a seated baby. Several other adults and children are visible in the blurred background.
  • Adults standing in a circle, stretching during a workshop
  • People at a party, with lights and fake glowing skeletons
Who can participate?

Everyone! The goal is to bring together people from all backgrounds, ages, and nationalities to share convivial moments together.
