For the past 20 years, the Philharmonie has stood firm in its belief that music empowers individuals and communities. With its unique ability to foster connections and build bridges, community music can be a force for good in our fragmented societies.
Building upon this commitment, we have partnered with Paper Lantern Collective to design a special participatory project for the 2025/26 season.
Starting in January 2026, we will offer creative workshops open to all. Families with children, young people, adults, senior citizens: anyone and everyone is invited to come together to make music, sing, dance, create and – most importantly – connect.
After a few months of regular gatherings, the project’s finale will take the form of a festive neighbourhood party in June, including music, food and art – a beautiful moment to celebrate the arrival of summer together!
Who can participate?
Everyone! The goal is to bring together people from all backgrounds, ages, and nationalities to share convivial moments together.
When are the workshops?
- 23.01.2026, 18:30–19:30: Kick-off session at Tiers Lieu Bonnevoie (13 rue Auguste Charles, L-1326 Luxembourg)
- 07.02.2026, 10:30–12:30: Workshop N° 1
- 07.03.2026, 10:30–12:30: Workshop N° 2
- 28.03.2026, 10:30–12:30: Workshop N° 3
Workshops N° 4 to 7 are divided into two parts. You can choose to attend just one of them or both!!
From 10:30 to 11:30: Community choir and songwriting
Singing workshops based on simple songs from different languages and cultures. No musical experience needed! Over the course of the sessions, we will also create our own songs, which will be performed at the final event.
From 11:45 to 12:45: Community street band
Percussion – and other instrument – workshops to explore rhythms and tunes from all around the world. The aim is to prepare a group performance in the form of a parade for the final event. No prior experience is necessary.

Do I have to come to all of the workshops?
It's OK if you miss some of them, don't worry! But do try to come as much as you can to live the full experience.
