A love story set during the Trojan War,

a heart-wrenching moral dilemma, a lively score combining boldness and emotion... Idomeneo is a youthful work that’s worth your while! In 1781, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was only 25 but had already made a name for himself in opera when he was commissioned to write an opera seria – in other words, a «serious» opera, tinged with tradition and tragedy. The challenge was enormous! But both the young composer and opera as a musical genre came out stronger than ever from this major project. The same will undoubtedly be true of the Luxembourg Philharmonic, who will be bringing it back to life on 16.10.!

Produced by the Grand Théâtre de Genève in co-production with the Dutch National Opera & Ballet and the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg
